In the Vynnitsa region, employees of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) brought to court the case of the senior detective of the criminal police sector of the Kiev branch of the Vynnitsa department of the Main Directorate of the National Police of the region, which is suspected of killing a person for refusing to be official witnesses.

The investigation established that the law enforcement officer suggested that the citizen become official witnesses by seizing the ammunition. Having been refused, the policeman hit the man with his fist in the face. The victim fell and hit his head on the asphalt. As a result of his injuries, he died in the hospital without regaining consciousness.

In fact, a case was opened under Part 3 of Art. 365 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abuse of authority by a law enforcement officer, which led to grave consequences). In the case of proof of guilt, the police officer faces 7 to 10 years in prison with the deprivation of the right to hold a number of posts for up to 3 years.

As we reported, the head of the State Bureau of Investigation, Roman Truba, said that Maidan’s affairs will be distributed between the State Bureau of Investigation, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, the National Police and the Security Service.
