The Ukrainian capital city hosts a forum of war veterans on Wednesday; the event gathered participants in the ongoing Donbas conflict, civil activists, volunteers who have been supporting the military since the beginning of the conflict, and the leading Ukrainian statesmen. President Petro Poroshenko joined the event with the speech - on the occasion of the approaching national holiday, the Independence Day.
Among other notable events timed to the Independence Day there will be a military parade; a rehearsal took place this week, with anpother one slated for Wednesday evening.
Previously, the Ukrainian Army took the eighth place out of 33 among Europe’s armies according to the Global Firepower ranking. Petro Poroshenko reported this on Facebook. ‘According to the Global Firepower ranking, the Ukrainian army is the most powerful at the European continent among the armed countries that are not NATO-members. We are proud of our soldiers’, he wrote. Ukraine took the eighth place out of 33 among Europe’s armies. More than 50 factors were taken into account during the determining of the country’s place.
