More than $92 million will have to be allocated for the formation of Ukraine's territorial defense in 2022. RBC-Ukraine reported citing the chairman of the Committee on National Security, Defence and Intelligence Oleksandr Zavitnevych.
"It will be necessary to allocate about $92 million for the formation of territorial defense in 2022, and almost $26,5 million in the next two years," the statement reads.
In addition, Zavitnevych called volunteers on a territorial defense an "institutional core" for building a new type of army.
As it was reported earlier, in 2020, Ukraine increased the expenses on defense - despite the pandemic of coronavirus. This is mentioned in the annual report conducted and released by SIPRI, the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute. The experts estimated the overall amount of money that Ukraine spent on defense in 2019 as 5.9 billion U.S. dollars.
And in May, Ukraine approved a list of international specialized organizations and their representative offices that procure goods, works, and services for defense purposes, including NATO agencies.
