The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine ratified the agreement with the European Investment Bank (EIB) on the drawing of the 120 million euros loan and 10 million euros grant on the increase of the energy efficiency of the university buildings and other investments connected with the education. 231 MPs supported this draft law as 112 Ukraine broadcasted.
‘The financial agreement (the project on ‘Higher Education of Ukraine) between Ukraine and the European Investment Bank signed on December 19, 2016, in Brussels that comes into force from the day of entry into force of this Law should be ratified’, the draft law said.
According to the explanatory note, the issue is about the drawing of the loan from the EIB by Ukraine in the sum of 120 million euros and grant in the sum of 10 million euros from the E5P fund for the events that aim for the increase of the energy efficiency of the university buildings other investments connected with the education.
Maksym Strikha, the Deputy Education Minister submitted the document.
‘The ‘Higher Education’ project that is supposed to be the financial agreement between the Education Ministry and the European Investment Bank provide that the large-scale events on the energy efficiency of 147 buildings of seven Ukrainian universities will be implemented and it will cost 81 million euros. These universities are situated in the North of Ukraine where the weather conditions are quite unfavorable ’, he noted.
