The United States Air Force will send a fifth-generation F-35A Lightning II fighter jet to Europe this weekend. This was reported by the press service of the US Department of Defense.
"The US Air Force will deploy a small number of aircraft in Europe, it is planned that within a few weeks the F-35A will conduct training flights with other US and NATO aircraft in Europe as part of the European Security Initiative," the report said.
According to the information of the US Department of Defense, these exercises will allow the Air Force to demonstrate the operational capabilities of a fifth-generation fighter.
In addition, these exercises will help clarify the requirements in order to eventually deploy the F-35A in Europe on an ongoing basis. Europe will receive fighter aircraft after 2020.
