Engineers of the Massachussets Institute of Technologies and the Harvard University have developed a new face mask that is capable of detecting coronavirus within some 90 minutes. MIT News reported that on June 30.
The mask has tiny one-time sensors in it. They can be set in other masks and protective wear such as medical gowns.
The sensors can be used for detection of Covid-19 and other viruses. These are based on the sublimed cellular facility developed for diagnostics of viruses, such as Ebola and Zika. The sensors can be activated by the wearer himself, as soon as he/she is ready to conduct the test. The results are showed only inside the mask to maintain confidentiality.
The researchers appealed for the patent for this technology; now, they hope to cooperate with companies for further development of sensors.
Previously, the WHO urged completely vaccinated people to keep wearing masks, observing the social distance and other safety measures given the fact that the Delta strain spreads across the globe quickly.
