"The United States of America supports Ukraine during this difficult time of severe floods in Western Ukraine. With the help of USAID, the American people will provide new financing in the amount of $100 thousand to support Ukraine in the fight against this humanitarian catastrophe," the statement said.
The Embassy also noted that the United States will work closely with the Ukrainian government "to ensure the rapid and effective use of these funds."
As we reported before, as floods are still observed in western Ukraine, flooding of houses, agricultural land, manure depots, landfills is very possible, and therefore the risk of outbreaks of infectious diseases and food poisoning increases.
"With the real threat of contamination of drinking water by the causative agents of viral hepatitis A, typhoid fever, dysentery, enterovirus infection and other infectious diseases, it is necessary to adhere to simple prevention rules," the Public Health Center noted.
