The United States Department of Commerce has so far paused its previous decision to ban the Chinese social network TikTok in the country, which was set to take effect on November 12,The Wall Street Journal reports.
If the decision came into force, it would make it impossible for the TikTok service, which is owned by the Chinese company ByteDance, to operate in the United States. This is exactly what Donald Trump tried to achieve, claiming that TikTok monitors users and transfers information to the PRC special services.
According to local media, this decision was made due to the victory of Trump's rival, Democrat Joe Biden in the US presidential election.
As we reported earlier, the team of the Instagram social media, owned by Facebook announced the international launch of Reels service, which aims to compete with popular TikTok.
To use the new functionality, it is necessary to update the app. Later, the button Reels will appear at the bottom of the screen. Clicking on it, you can create 15-second videos, overlay audio, and add creative effects. If the user has open to public account then not only the subscribers but all people registered in the social network will see them.
The Reels is available for users from 50 world countries. Ukraine is not on the list.
