US FDA panel recommends approval of Moderna Covid-19 vaccine

An influential Food and Drug Administration advisory panel overwhelmingly endorsed the emergency use of Moderna Inc's Covid-19 vaccine, as The Washington post reports.

It is noted that 20 experts supported the use of the vaccine, one abstained. Nobody voted against the vaccine. The vote of the specialists took place after a discussion with the participation of representatives of Moderna, researchers of the department and the public.

The decision now gives the FDA the ability to soon approve the drug in the United States. It is assumed that the FDA may make this decision as early as Friday.

U.S. President Donald Trump on Twitter hailed the authorization.

"Moderna vaccine overwhelmingly approved. Distribution to start immediately," he wrote on Twitter.

As we reported earlier, the management of the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (USA) approved the use of BioNTech/Pfizer vaccine from coronavirus. The approved recommendation concerns people 16 years old and more.
