As a result of the mistaken air strike of the United States Air Force, unknown number of servicemen were killed in Afghanistan. This was reported in the Ministry of Defense of the United States, informs Reuters.
"We would like to express our deepest condolences to the families of the victims of this tragic incident," the Pentagon statement said.
The department also promised to investigate the so-called "friendly fire" that led to the death of Afghan "local security officers associated with Afghan government forces."
Thus, according to local residents, as a result of the air strike in the Gereshk district in Helmand province in the south of the country, 15 Afghan policemen, including two officers, were killed and even more were injured. The Pentagon informed that the Afghan government had already been informed of an erroneous attack on servicemen.
