Unknown attackers break windows of Choral synagogue in Lviv region

The unknown perpetrators broke the windows of Choral synagogue in Drohobych, Lviv region as Varto reported.

According to the message, the incident took place in the evening on January 7. The journalist supposed that the malefactors could use a slingshot and shoot at the windows outside the territory of the synagogue. No prints were found on the territory of the building.

The local Jewish community is going to replace the broken windows as soon as possible. The police do not possess the information about the incident.

Choral synagogue was the asylum and protection for Jews. However, the building of the synagogue was used as the stable during the WWII. Later, the building was used as a furniture store and food depots.

The destroyed Choral synagogue was returned to the Jewish community only in the late 20th century. The restoration of the synagogue was complete in summer 2018.

Earlier the Russian special services planned to attack Jewish organizations in Lviv, trying to involve the local Ukrainian youth.
