The US National Center for Counterintelligence and Security has formally accused Russia, China, and Iran of efforts to undermine the 2020 elections. The director of the US National Center for Counterintelligence and Security, William Evanina, stated this. Ukrinform reports.
“Today we see how our opponents seek to compromise political campaigns in the United States, candidates, and also have other political goals. We continue to track malicious cyber subjects that seek to gain access to networks in individual states and on a federal scale, including responsible for managing the electoral process, "the message says.
Evanina clarified that he means primarily Russia, China and Iran, although the threat to the US elections is not excluded from other states and non-state actors. According to him, in particular, "Russia's goal is to weaken the United States and reduce our global role," as well as undermine the credibility of the democratic process in the United States through disinformation, the work of Internet trolls and the like.
The US presidential election will take place on November 3.
