"It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle," the Palace's statement reads.
The palace also explained that further announcements related to Prince Philip's funeral "will be made in due cours."
"The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss," the message concluded.
As we reported earlier, on Tuesday, February 16, 99-year-old Duke Philip of Edinburgh, was hospitalized in a London hospital after feeling unwell.
The palace reported that Prince Philip had been admitted to the private hospital of King Edward VII.
The reason for hospitalization was an infectious disease not associated with a new coronavirus strain. Later, both Philip and Elizabeth II were vaccinated against Covid-19.
