Ukrzaliznytsia company (Ukrainian Railways) received eight new locomotives produced by General Electric enterprise. One of these already carried its first cargo, the media centre of the Ukrainian company reports.
According to the message, TE3AAC 'Tryzub' ('Trident', - 112 International) came from Melitopol to Volnovakha and back, carrying the iron ore concentrate.
'It's a memorable date for Ukrzaliznytsia, as we're launching the first General Electric locomotive for the first regular run. At 1 p.m., the train loaded with iron ore of the total weight of 3,824 tons headed to the Mariupol-based enterprises', said Yevhen Kravtsov, the Acting Head of the Directors Board of the company.
The official added that last year, the transport capacity of the company on this particular route was only 12-14 trains; now that Ukraine got the new locomotives, Ukrzaliznytsia will be able to use up to 24 trains on this route.
They all will be used in the strategic cargo route between Komysh-Zorya and Volnovakha, in the Ukraine-controlled section of Donetsk region. Besides, the Ukrainian company plans to send the locomotives to Mykolaiv port, using them for the export of the Ukrainian grain.
