Ukrainians engaged in transferring illegal migrants detained in Turkey. This is reported by the Turkish Coast Guard.

“The Coast Guard ship, which was on duty, stopped the boat and found 19 Iraqis, 2 Egyptians, Afghan, Iranian and two citizens of Ukraine, who organized the transfer. They were detained,” the report said.

The incident occurred at the coast of the Mugla province, in the south-west of the country.

Earlier we reported that a boat sunk not far from the Turkish coast. There were some 40 illegal migrants aboard, the Turkish coast guard reported.

The accident took place not far from Bodrum. Two extra teams of Coast Guard, a divers' squad and a helicopter rushed to the site.

The boat sunk in the area where the depth reaches 35 meters. As of 1 p.m. June 17, the search and rescue teams saved 31 passengers; they are searching for another nine.
