On May 18, Ukrainian diaspora in Riga, Latvia, went on a demonstration timed to the 72nd anniversary of the deportation of Crimean Tatars (Radio Liberty). According to Mykola Pavlyuk, Head of the Congress of Ukrainians of Latvia, the goal of the manifestation was to remind Russian occupants about the 1944 deportation of Crimean Tatars, as well as to turn attention of common Latvian citizens to the current status of Crimean Tatars, whose homeland was annexed by Russia”.
