JSC Meridian, which is part of Ukroboronprom company, joined the domestic part of the space mission to the Moon, which is being implemented by the British company Spacebit. This was reported by the press service of Ukroboronprom.

The start is scheduled for the spring of 2022. This flight is the first mission to an Earth satellite with the participation of Ukraine.

In the laboratory, the enterprises will test the equipment used on the moon for climatic and mechanical stresses. It is noted that with the help of a unique "hot chamber" with sources of ionizing radiation, devices and equipment will be tested for radiation resistance and radiation aging.

“We are also starting to manufacture ultra-lightweight and ultra-strong mechanical structures for the equipment of the lunar rover, which will begin surveying the surface of the Earth satellite in a year. "Olga Rudenko said.

First of all, equipment for soil research, testing of sampling technology, collecting information on thermal properties and magnetic field, and the like will be sent to the moon. The cargo will go to the large crater Lacus Mortis, and later - to the dark spot Oceanus Procellarum, which is interesting for scientists.

Sensors will collect information about the radiation background, and a special camera will broadcast a video stream from the surface. All the data obtained will be available to domestic scientists for the development of space programs.

In addition, the mission will deliver a 3D-printed titanium flag of Ukraine to the moon. During its manufacture, a special technology of "green" waste-free production was used.

On August 30 it was reported that the first Ukrainian mission to the Moon will take place in 2022. It is planned to send equipment to the surface of the satellite for scientific research. The cost of the mission will be $ 1.5 million.
