Brother of another prominent actor Bohdan Benyuk, Petro Benyuk played dozens of parts in both comedy and drama. Born in 1946 in Bytkiv village, western Ukraine, he studied at Kyiv State University of Theatre Art named after Ivan Karpenko-Kary. In 1996, he was awarded with the title of the People's Artist of Ukraine. He was also a holder of the 3rd class Order for Merits.
