Ukraine's State Border Guard managed to shut down the channel of smuggling of cigarettes across the border to Poland. The authority's press office reported this June 24; the incident itself took place June 22.
A man was driving Mercedes Sprinter near the inhabited locality in Volyn region, northwestern Ukraine, not far from the Polish border. The Border Guards stopped him and searched the car.
'194 boxes (97,000 packs) of cigarettes without excise labels were found inside the cargo section of the car', the authority reported.
The respective fact was documented and put inside the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations.
The overall price of the seized goods makes 4,000,000 Ukrainian hryvnias.
