Ukrzaliznytsya (Ukrainian Railways) will not purchase the used German electric trains for the exploitation in Ukraine. Yevhen Kravtsov, the acting CEO of Ukrzaliznytsya claimed this as Delo reported.

‘We have analyzed the issue of the purchase of the used German electric trains in details. Specifically, diesel-trains. The issue of the cost-benefit rose: according to our estimation, it (the re-equipment of the electric trains for the rut 1520) is not cheaper than the major repairs of our rolling stock’, Kravtsov said.

Moreover, he said that the exploitation of the German used diesel-trains in Ukraine is not safe.

‘The second issue is safety. It is connected with the fact that there will be a big distance between the train and platform if we use these trains. It can lead to the unpleasant consequences during the mass use of this transport’, he noted.
