Ukrainian aviation is engaged in extinguishing forest fires in the Republic of Turkey. The press service of Ukraine’s State Emergencies Service reports this.
An-32P firefighting aircraft carried out the first two discharges of water (16 tons) to the fires in the mountainous regions near Antalya on the evening of July 30.
The State Emergency Situations Service aircraft landed at the Gazipasa Alania airport. On July 31, the aircraft continues to operate after a flight mission briefing.
Specialists who already have experience in mountainous areas and were previously involved in the elimination of large-scale fires in Montenegro, Israel, and Georgia are taking part in the elimination of the disaster.
July 30, Ukraine sent two crews of An-32P firefighting aircraft with a support group of 14 people to help Turkish firefighters.
As reported before, July 28 in Turkey in the province of Antalya, in the Manavgat region, a strong forest fire broke out. The fire was caused by a fire in a landfill in the Yenikei region. In Manavgat, some houses were damaged and animals were killed in a fire.
Soon, the flames reached the tourist cities of Marmaris and Bodrum, in connection with which the evacuation of people from hotels began.
The Turkish President has called the situation a national disaster.
