Ukrainian peacekeepers conduct training drills with helicopter crews in Congo

Crews of Ukrainian peacekeepers conducted training exercises in Congo, using Mil Mi-8 helicopters. They evacuated the distressed people from the water surface. Each helicopter had a small airborne force aboard. The crews worked on their skills of flights over the water in the daytime and descended to extremely low altitudes.

In July, Ukrainian national staff consisting of five people joined the UN multidisciplinary integrated mission related to stabilization of the situation in Mali for the first time. This was reported by Deputy Director of the Armed Forces of Ukraine’s Head Department of military cooperation and peacekeeping operations Colonel Valentyn Levchyk, as the press office of the Ukrainian Ground Forces informed.

According to Levchyk, 61 representatives of Ukrainian national staff complete tasks in missions of the UN, NATO and joint peacekeeping forces in many countries.
