Oleksandr Mulyavka, First Lieutenant of the 11th Detached Brigade of army aviation perished in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Press office of the brigade reported that on Thursday.

"With great sadness, we report that Oleksandr Ihorovych Mulyavka, First Lieutenant and the serviceman of the 11th Detached Brigade of army aviation tragically deceased while performing service duties in the 18th Detached Helicopter Unit of the UN stabilization mission in the DR Congo", reads the message. 

The cause of Mulyavka's death is not disclosed.

The 8th Detached Helicopter Unit serves within the UN mission that aims to stabilize situation in the DR Congo since 2012. Ukrainian peacekeepers conduct shipments, provide fire support of ground forces and air escort of the local military, demonstration of power, reconnaissance and surveillance, as well as search and rescue operations.
