Ukrainian officers expose illegal privatization of Kyiv region forest lands worth $3,5 million

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has exposed the scheme of illegal state lands privatization in Kyiv region. The criminals tried to get 50 hectares of forest fund in the Vyshhorod district with an estimated value of over $3,5 million. This was reported by the SBU press service.

“The Security Service of Ukraine has stopped criminals who wanted to seize 50 hectares of state forest in the elite lands of Kyiv region,” the statement said.

SBU officers found out that the criminals tried to exclude the territory of the forest fund in the Vyshhorod district from state ownership. It is an area of 50 hectares, and its estimated cost is over $ 3,5 million.

The criminal schemes involved bribery transactions to officials of the State Service of Ukraine for Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre in Kyiv Oblast, Vyshhorod District State Administration and Vyshchedubechansky Forestry.

As part of the investigation, law enforcement officers conducted authorized searches. Documents confirming the illegal nature of criminals’ activities were seized during the searches.

Criminal actions are qualified as fraud and abuse of power and authority according to the Criminal code of Ukraine. The issue of declaring suspicion to the organizers and their partners is being resolved.

As it was reporter earlier, SBU cyber specialists recently exposed a criminal scheme of purchasing software for the National School of Judges of Ukraine.
