154 cadets of the Odesa Naval Academy solemnly took oath of loyalty to the Ukrainian people; the ceremony took place in Odesa, southern Ukraine. Eight of the 32 contract soldiers who also entered the Academy this year served in the combat area in Donbas.

Commander of the Ukrainian Navy, Vice Admiral Ihor Voronchenko hosted the ceremony. ‘You are the future, the hope and the guides of the Ukrainian Navy. Remember the words of your oath, and let the courage and endurance of our true patriots who now loyally serve to their people will inspire you’, he said.

The Navy commander and the cadets held a moment of silence for the deceased, who gave their lives in the Battle of Ilovaisk in Donbas in August 2014.
