Ukrainian MPs propose to celebrate Christmas on December 25

The MPs of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine proposed to celebrate Christmas on December 25 at the session of the parliament as 112 Ukraine broadcasted.

The draft law on Christmas was registered in December 2016 and it provides to add December 25 to the list of the holidays of Ukraine as well as January 7 and make it the non-working day.

Also, it is supposed to estimate the level of the support of this draft law by the different parties and then to decide on the adoption of this law. According to MPs, the main reason for such decision is the unification of Ukraine with other Christian communities that celebrate Christmas on December 25.

At the moment Ukraine celebrates Christmas on January 7according to the Julian calendar.
