Police exposed a criminal group that organized a transnational human trafficking channel on the territory of Ukraine. This was reported by the press service of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.

"According to the investigation, the activity of an organized criminal group with international relations was exposed on the territory of Ukraine. The members of this group are involved in creating and ensuring the functioning of the human trafficking channel and involving them in criminal activities outside our country," the statement said.

Ukrainian citizens were recruited by crew members on sailing yachts and pleasure boats, which transported migrants by sea from Turkey to Greece and Italy, and from Greece to Italy.

The investigation established the involvement of at least 12 Ukrainian citizens in the group's recruitment and transportation abroad, some of whom are currently in prisons in Greece.

As we reported earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) successfully prevented the smuggling of a record consignment of heroin to the European Union.
