As of now, Ukrainian laboratories are capable of conducting 130,000 coronavirus tests per week. This was stated by the Chief State Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko on the air of UA:Pershyi TV channel.
"The capacity of our laboratories is 130,000 tests a week. We are going to additionally supply automatic stations for isolating RNA virus, as well as amplifiers, and this capacity will increase," Lyashko said.
According to him, in recent weeks, Ukraine has already reached the average European level in the number of tests for coronavirus.
Lyashko noted that private laboratories are also increasing their capacity. Hospitals that are treating coronavirus patients have received a lab package which will allow them to contact private laboratories.
As we reported earlier, there is a chance that Ukraine may resume its domestic production of vaccines.
"We have a good foundation. Of course, this process is not that rapid. It will take several years for us to have our own vaccine, which will be developed by our scientists. At the same time, I have already had several meetings with our entrepreneurs who possess the appropriate production capabilities," Ukraine's Health Minister Maksym Stepanov stated.
