A citizen of Ukraine, a journalist, was released from a Belarusian prison. The Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba announced this information on the Savik Shuster's Freedom of Speech TV show, Ukrinform reports.
“I summoned the ambassador to Belarus for consultations and clearly stated that this challenge would in no way negatively affect the ability of Ukraine to receive the necessary information and protect the rights of citizens on the territory of Belarus. And there is evidence right now - the ambassador is still in Ukraine, but without presence we were able to release the ambassador there a citizen of Ukraine, a journalist from a prison in Belarus," Kuleba said.
The head of the Ukrainian diplomacy did not name the journalist, however, on his Twitter on September 4, he said that a Ukrainian, Serhiy Shegolev, had been released from custody in Belarus. He was detained in Minsk on September 1.
As we reported before, Ukraine will coordinate issues of sanctions policy in relation to Minsk with international partners
