In Ukraine, over 36 million dollars (one billion hryvnias) have been allocated for the development of patriotic filmmaking. Minister of Culture and Information Policy Oleksandr Tkachenko wrote about this on his Facebook page.
He noted that 100 million hryvnias (6,3 million dollars) have been pledged for the production of Ukrainian TV series.
"By the end of the year, we will have focused on the production of patriotic series. With Ukrainian actors and Ukrainian narratives. Viewers' demand for a television product is growing during a difficult lockdown and post-lockdown period. This decision will allow us to support the film industry and offer the audience what it likes," said the Minister.
Oleksandr Tkachenko clarified that the competition would start in the second half of September. He promised to provide details soon.
As we reported earlier, for the first time in history, Netflix is shooting one of its films in Ukraine.
It will be a comedy action movie called "The Last Mercenary", which will tell a story about political intrigue at the state level. Jean-Claude Van Damme and Alban Ivanov are on the list of actors.
