Ukrainian film receives one of the main awards at Venice Film Festival

The 'Atlantyda' movie of Ukrainian director Valentyn Vasyanovych received the Best Film prize in Orizzonti program at the 76th Venice Film Festival. Prizes were awarded on the evening of September 7, the full list of winners is published on the official website.

The main award of the festival - the Golden Lion - was taken by the 'Joker' - a drama based on the DC comic book universe. The director of the picture was Todd Phillips, and the main role in it played by Joaquin Phoenix. The film will be released in Ukraine on October 3.

The Grand Prix and Silver Lion are awarded to the historical drama by Roman Polansky, 'J’accuse'.

Swede Roy Anderson was recognized as the best director for the film 'About Endlessness'.

The Volpi Cup for the best female role was taken by Frenchwoman Ariane Ascaride, who played in the 'Gloria Mundi'.

The same award, but in the men's nomination, was received by the Italian Luca Marinelli for the main role in the film adaptation of Jack London’s novel 'Martin Eden'.

The remaining prizes in the Orizzonti program were awarded as follows:

Best Director - Théo Court for the movie "White on White";

Special Jury Prize - Raymund Ribay Gutierrez's 'Verdict';

Best Actress - Marta Nieto for her role in the movie 'Mother';

Best Actor - Sami Bouajila for his role in the film 'Son';

Best Screenplay - Jessica Palud, Philippe Lioret, Diastème for the movie 'Return'.
