The Embassy of Ukraine in France is making every effort to liberate the journalist Roman Sushchenko. This was stated in an interview with Ukrinform, by the Ukrainian ambassador to France Oleh Shamshur.
"We are ready to continue to do everything possible to ensure that he would be released as soon as possible. It is true that the fate of Roman Sushchenko was discussed at the highest level - during the visit of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko to France," Shamshur stressed.
"It is very important that we remember of Roman Sushchenko in France, and for our part we will continue to raise the issue of the release of Ukrainian journalist at venues of all levels: from public events to official meetings," the diplomat said.
Earlier it was reported that the Moscow City Court extended the arrest of Ukrainian journalist Roman Sushchenko for another two months - until January 13, 2018. The hearing on the case, like all the previous ones, was held in closed session. Ukrainian journalists and the consul of Ukraine were allowed to enter the courtroom only during announcinf of the verdict.
Sushchenko was detained at the end of September 2016 in Moscow, and was accused by the FSB of espionage. For this he faces 20 years imprisonment. Now Roman and his lawyer get acquainted with the case materials.
