Serhiy Loznytsia's documentary film Babi Yar. Context received a special award at the Cannes Film Festival. The Babi Yar Holocaust Memorial Center reports this on Facebook page.

"Film by Ukrainian director Serhiy Loznytsia Babi Yar. Context, filmed with the support of the Babyn Yar Holocaust Memorial Center, won the Golden Eye award at the Cannes Film Festival, sharing first place with the documentary work of an Indian director," the statement said.

Babi Yar. Context unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival, tells the story of the mass killing that marked the start of the Holocaust in occupied Soviet Ukraine, as well as surrounding events.

Earlier, we reported that the documentary film of Ukrainian filmmaker Serhiy Loznytsia (Donbass, Maidan, My Joy) entered the program of special screenings of the 74th Cannes Film Festival. The Festival was taking place from July 6 until July 17.

Loznytsia has already won the prize at the Cannes Film Festival. In 2018, the jury noted him with the Certain Regard Award for Best Director. The jury awarded Donbass drama film.
