Ukrainian customs officer detained while crossing border with Russia

Counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine exposed another provocation by the Russian special services. In September, representatives of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation illegally detained an inspector of one of the divisions of the State Customs Service of Ukraine, the press service of Security Service reported.

The department agency said that the man was detained while crossing the Ukrainian-Russian border at the Shebekino checkpoint. During the inspection of his car, officers of the Russian special service allegedly found dual-purpose goods in it.

"The Ukrainian was placed in a pre-trial detention center and for two days was under the constraint to admit that he committed a crime under Part 1 of Article 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (smuggling of powerful, poisonous, explosive, radiation sources, nuclear materials, nuclear materials, and firearms," reads the message.

The Security Service of Ukraine explained that such a provocative situation was planned to be used by Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation representatives to carry out an information campaign for artificially "denigrating" representatives of Ukrainian power institutions. However, in the absence of any real evidence of detention, the Ukrainian was released from custody.

They added that in the area of ​​high risk and attention of the special services of the Russian Federation continue to be primarily servicemen, representatives of the authorities and management, law enforcement and control structures, members of the Joint Forces Operation, activists and members of national-patriotic associations and movements.

Earlier, the officials of the Security Service of Ukraine exposed another attempt to recruit prisoners who had arrived to serve their sentences in Ukrainian prisons by pro-Russian terrorists.
