Mykyta Lyskov's Ukrainian animated film "Deep Love" received the Golden Dove at Dok Leipzig-2019, one of the oldest documentary and animation film festivals, which took place from October 28 to November 3 in Leipzig (Germany).
According to Ukrainian State Film Agency, the cartoon received the Golden Dove Award in the Next Masters Competition Short Documentary and Animated Film program.
The cartoon tells the story of love through symbols: witty story-reflection on relationships between people, which is revealed through sounds.
The jury noted the director’s ability to combine specific local references with complete accessibility for everyone and allegorical understanding of human experience where symbols and music combine as in a circus.
Short animated feature " Deep Love" has already participated in more than 20 international festivals both in Ukraine and abroad, and has been granted several awards. In particular, the cartoon won the Grand Prix of Finnish Animation Festival. In addition, the animation received the National Film Critics' Award “Kinokolo”.
As we reported earlier, Nariman Aliev's drama "Homeward" became the only Ukrainian candidate in the longlist of the Golden Glove Award. The film was also included in the longlist of the Academy Award.
