Ukrainian arrested at Ataturk airport for cocaine transportation

A Ukrainian citizen was arrested at Ataturk airport in Istanbul. The woman tried to move over two kilograms of cocaine, Anadolu news agency reported. 

'Drug teams, together with anti-smuggling squads, searched the suitcase of the passenger, identified by the initials Y.B., who landed in Istanbul from Sao Paulo, Brazil on Oct. 31, said the sources, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media. Two kilos and 50 grams of cocaine hidden in tin cans was found in the suitcase of the suspect, who was later remanded into custody, the sources added', reads the article.

The woman is now staying in detention.

Earlier, on November 9, operatives of the tax police of the State Fiscal Service and the State Border Guard of Ukraine detained a man on Mariinka checkpoint in Donetsk region. He tried carrying 391 kilograms of grain coffee across the checkpoint.

The Joint Forces Operation HQ reported this on Facebook, adding that the man appeared to be the local resident who carried the coffee under the guise of his personal belongings.

The overall price of the batch makes approximately 3,000 U.S. dollars.

The operative agents seized the goods.
