The Ministry of Internal Affairs transferred two modernized Mil Mi-8 helicopters to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, reports the press office of the authority.
The commanders of Kharkiv and Odesa detached aviation squadrons received certificates for the aviation equipment.
On November 24, Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov provided two upgraded Mil Mi-8 helicopters to Kharkiv and Odesa border patrol unit for the inspection of the border during his visit to the Kharkiv Border Patrol Unit of Eastern Regional Department of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
‘Today, we are giving two certificates for modernized Mil Mi-8 helicopters but this is a temporary option. Very soon, the border service will receive new weaponry and new Airbus helicopters, which to be deployed in Kharkiv squadron. Your professional competence will be even better,’ Avakov said.
Mil Mi-8 helicopters designed for the transportation of passengers, freight, assault forces, carrying out special patrol tasks, search-rescue operations and sanitary tasks. They have modern flight and navigation equipment and equipped with special equipment: searchlight, cargo winch, weather radar, satellite communication system, radio navigation system, audio/video recorder and airborne weapons complex.
