Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service implements NATO standards gradually, - Poroshenko

Ukraine intends to buy 22 modern boats and ships for marine border guard

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko stated that the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine is gradually implementing the NATO standards. Poroshenko stated this during the working trip to Cherkasy region, broadcasted by 112.Ukraine.

According to the head of state, Ukraine expects to make deals concerning the construction of 22 modern vessels and ships this year.

“The significant way of development is to increase the marine component. The regional management of marine guard was launched, and a new boat of marine protection type ums-1000 was transferred to the ship-boat warehouse. Those ships will belong to the patrol type and will carry out the appointed missions on the guard of the marine border,” Petro Poroshenko claimed, adding that this and next year 24 modern light patrol helicopters will be bought as well.

According to the President, today 18 international projects are being realized in the country. The projects touch upon the improvement of the border guard, the preparation of the personnel, medical care and the fight against corruption.

“We confidently are forming the European face of the Border Guard Service, and securing its capability to work efficiently according to the NATO standards,” Poroshenko added.
