The State Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) stated that it had liquidated 11 drug laboratories and seized 334 kilograms of drugs, 27 kilograms of psychotropic drugs, and 188 kilograms of precursors over the previous six months. This was reported by the SBU's press service.
105 pre-trial investigations were initiated over the same period. 31 people have been convicted so far.
As we reported earlier, in April 2020, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) liquidated laboratories for the production of psychotropic substances in Kyiv region, organized by a professor of chemistry.
"The activities of an organized drug group, which specialized in the manufacture and sale of bulk batches of psychotropic substances and precursors, were blocked in the capital region by the Security Service of Ukraine," the statement said.
According to the investigation, the group was organized by a former chemistry teacher - a professor at one of the higher educational institutions of Kyiv.
The chemicals for the manufacture of the substances come from some countries in Asia and Western Europe, including through international postal services.
