The employees of the special service determined that for influence on election sentiments of the Ukrainians, the curators, before the elections, spread false information through the internet, aiming for incitement to ethnic hatred and propaganda of separatism.
During the pretrial investigation, the SBU workers established that a few citizens of Ukraine and Russia organized in Kyiv and Zaporizhia the work of the so-called bot-farms with the involvement of specialized telecommunications equipment. The perpetrators used SIM cards of Ukrainian and foreign mobile operators and created and sold through the Russian payment systems banned in Ukraine the anonymous virtual accounts for the spread of fake news about the political situation in Ukraine.
During the holding of searches at the addresses of the organizers of the illegal scheme, the equipment, and SIM cards for over a million hryvnia ($35.414) were confiscated: three SIM banks for 16 ports, two SIM banks with 32 ports, 14 SIM banks with 128 ports, nine VoIP gateways with 32 ports and over 22,000 SIM cards, as well as the computer equipment with the virtual server with specialized software.
The pretrial investigation continues.
As we reported, the criminal activity of 25 people was confirmed in the leak of personal information of citizens from the anonymous Telegram-channel. One man was detained.
