The leader of Ukraine’s Orthodox Church of Moscow Patriarchate Olexandr Drabynko turned to the government, asking for complete ban of abortions in Ukraine. According to him, a good first step in this direction would be excluding abortions from available medical services. ‘The argument that the number of home-made abortions will allegedly grow… it is nonsense. People take money for such operations, too. Prices for official and homemade homicidal operations should be the same – but not at the cost of tax payers’, Drabynko says, adding that abortions are one of the key problems for the country.
‘If we could cut the number of abortions, we’d witness a stable and powerful demographic growth. We’ve got to make joint decisions to increase the genetic pool; we can’t let the nation extinct,’ the metropolitan said.
