Ukraine’s National Academy of Sciences predicts development of Covid-19 pandemic in February

The Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences provided a prediction toward the spread of the coronavirus. According to the data, the rates of spread of the epidemic in Ukraine during the past two weeks will continue to reduce as the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) reported.

Thus, according to the scientists, the average number of new cases will make about 3,500 cases during the week of February 9-15 and 3,200 cases during the week of February 16-22.

The scientists stated that the number of lethal cases all over the country continues to reduce. The growth of a number of new infections is observed in five regions of Ukraine: Ivano-Frankivsk, Zakarpattia, Khmelnytsk, Chernivtsi, and Vinnytsia regions.

The most difficult situation is in the Ivano-Frankivsk region; 11% of all detected cases in Ukraine observed in this region and the dynamics of the region have started to significantly influence the dynamics of the whole country.

As we reported, over the last 24 hours, Ukraine has reported 2,656 new cases of coronavirus infection.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 1,249,646 cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in the country: 1,084,608 people have recovered (+2,656 per day) and 23,771 people (+127 per day) have died from complications caused by the disease.

Over the last 24 hours, the largest numbers of confirmed cases were registered in the city of Kyiv (243), Ivano-Frankivsk (525), Zakarpattia (276), Chernivtsi (194), and Zaporizhia (164) oblasts.
