The overall mortality rate from Covid-19 in Ukraine is 2.4%. This was reported on the website of the Public Health Center.

"The mortality rate in the country is 2.4%. The highest rate was recorded in Kirovohrad (5.1%), Cherkasy (3.9%), and Zakarpattya (3.8%) regions," the Health Ministry said in a statement.

At the same time, it is noted that 4,625 people are in inpatient treatment, of which 128 are connected to the lung ventilators. In total, 18,307 people needed hospitalization, 534 patients needed to be connected to ventilators.

Meanwhile, the largest number of active patients per 100,000 of the population was registered in the Lviv (285.1), Zakarpattya (238), and Ivano-Frankivsk (218.5) regions.

As reported, as of the morning of August 2, 1,112 new coronavirus cases were registered in Ukraine over the last 24 hours. Thus, the number of patients with Covid-19 in the country has reached 71,168. Over the past day, 16 people have died (a total of 1,725 since the beginning of the pandemic).

Chief sanitary doctor of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko said that today Ukraine is following the yellow scenario of the coronavirus pandemic. He stated this during a briefing on August 1.

According to Lyashko, a month ago, Ukraine's indicators met the yellow-green scenario. Also, the Ministry of Health predicts that 4,000 Ukrainians might lose their lives because of the coronavirus infection, and the total number of the infected might reach up to 400,000.

As previously reported, the World Health Organization said the coronavirus pandemic is not seasonally dependent, like the flu or other similar illnesses.

Also, head of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that he was convening an emergency commission due to the intensification of the pandemic.
