The level of mortality in Ukraine during the coronavirus pandemic is lower than last year - almost 10,000 fewer people died in the first nine months of 2020 than in the same period in 2019. The relevant data on the demographic situation in the country for January-September 2020 were published by the State Statistics Service.

It is noted that during this period the population of Ukraine decreased by 199,000 people and amounted to 41.7 million people as of October 1. The number of deaths during this period was 426,000.

The rate of the excess of the deaths number over the number of births remains significant: there are only 52 births per 100 deaths.

As we reported earlier, Ukraine's Healthcare Minister Maksym Stepanov believes that in two weeks the daily Covid-19 incidence in Ukraine will decrease by 20%.

"Based on the calculations of our epidemiologists and on the basis of international experience, in particular the advice of international experts, we expect a decrease in the level of daily morbidity anywhere from 15% to 20% in 14 days, because 14 days is an average incubation period," he stated.
