Ukraine’s MIA presents more than 400 weapons in 2019

Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov presented 438 weapons in 2019. This was stated by the Ministry's press service in response to the information request made by Ukrayinska Pravda.

Ministry’s "Firearms Award" was handed for outstanding service. It noted that a personal file was made on each gun owner in order to control arms trafficking.

In response to the information request, MIA did not indicate how many MPs, special forces servicemen or volunteers were awarded. In addition, it did not specify what kind of weapons were presented to them.

As we reported earlier, head of Ukraine's Ministry of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov and Ambassador of Canada to Ukraine Larisa Galadza discussed a strategic project. The main objective of the project is to improve security in Ukraine by supporting local strategic reform through the development of the police. 

The parties also discussed joint counteraction to drug trafficking, liberalization of the visa regime with Canada, as well as cooperation in the field of reforming the National Police and the National Guard.
