Servicemen of the Marine School of the Training Centre of the Ukrainian Navy accompanied Danylo Zahrebelny, the son of Lt. Col. Yuriy Zahrebelny who deceased in Donbas in autumn 2014. They joined Danylo as he went to school in Mykolaiv, southern Ukraine. ArmiyaInform outlet reported that on September 4.
"Today, we were honored to escort the son of our comrade to school. The command supported the idea, and those who volunteered got a transport vehicle. Initially, the idea was to pass the boy's family things that are necessary for education. But then, we decided to pay respects to the hero's son", said First Lieutenant Ivan Kudakin, the Deputy Chief of the Marine School of the Training Centre of the Ukrainian Navy.
It became a surprise for Danylo, he did not expect to be driven to his school by a military vehicle. The servicemen were waiting for him, ranked in two rows. They followed his cue, and then the boy was accompanied towards the gates of the school. He received a new schoolbag with the necessary stuff.
"We're confident that he will be a decent student, obtaining the necessary knowledge; we are confident that Danylo will become a decent citizen of Ukraine and the son of his father... The Marines of Ukraine are a big family where we respect all those who stand in our ranks, and we never forget those who gave their lives for our Ukraine", Kudakin said.
Yuriy Zahrebelny and his comrades were attacked in Talakivka, Donetsk region, on October 26, 2014. Russian mercenaries used heavy artillery and multiple rocket launchers to shell the area. One of the shells hit the trench where Zahrebelny was staying. The serviceman deceased during the surgery in Mariupol. He was awarded the Colonel's rank posthumously.
