The Infrastructure Ministry of Ukraine and a local state enterprise focused on digitalization and cyber security are working on the joint digital ticket for all kinds of public transport in Ukraine. The press service of the ministry reported that on April 9.
"Smarti Ticket - the joint electronic ticket, which will let the passengers use all kinds of transport (railway, urban, aircraft) of all carriers on the territory of Ukraine", reads the message.
One of the first steps towards the creation of the ticket was teh agreement that the Ministry signed with VISA payment system representatives. They agreed to share technologies and cut the inter-banking fee for the use of PayGovUa service.
On April 1, the entire public transport system in Kyiv switched to the use of joint e-ticket.
Due to the spread of Covid-19, the movement of public transport in Kyiv was restricted on March 22.
On March 31, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held an online meeting with heads of regional state administrations, regional councils and mayors of cities to discuss the issue of training local self-government bodies and executive authorities to counter the spread of the coronavirus.
