Infectious disease specialist Olha Holubovska told how coronavirus infection develops in the human body.
According to the infectious disease specialist, the coronavirus has nothing to do with the flu.
"This disease has nothing to do with influenza. Neither in terms of the burden on the healthcare system, nor in terms of the consequences for the patient. Coronavirus infection is a long-term illness," Holubovska said.
The doctor also spoke about phases of its development:
Phase 1 - the first week of the disease. Those infected feel mostly healthy. At this stage, coronavirus stops progressing in 80% of cases. However, the infectious disease specialist advises patients to drink vitamins and consult a doctor.
Phase 2 - at this stage there are from 10% to 30% of cases. Coronavirus begins to infect organs and systems of human body. The duration of the phase is up to 3 weeks.
Phase 3 - the infectious disease specialist called it "postcovid syndrome". At this stage, patients should be under medical supervision. An infected person who has passed the second phase can be on sick leave for up to one month.
