There is a chance that Ukraine may resume its domestic production of vaccines. This was stated by Health Minister Maksym Stepanov in an interview with Radio Svoboda.
"You probably know that the production of any vaccine in Ukraine was completely destroyed back in the 1990s. Now we have repeatedly talked to the president about its resumption. This applies to the flu vaccine, this applies to other vaccines that we use every year," Stepanov said.
According to the Minister, Ukraine has the appropriate scientific potential, but the process of resumption of production is not fast.
"We have a good foundation. Of course, this process is not that rapid. It will take several years for us to have our own vaccine, which will be developed by our scientists. At the same time, I have already had several meetings with our entrepreneurs who have the appropriate capabilities," he added.
As we reported earlier, the European Commission has signed the first agreement for the purchase of 300 million doses of vaccine against the coronavirus.
