Ukraine's GDP growth in Q4 2019 slowed to 1.5%

The growth of gross domestic product of Ukraine in the 4th quarter of 2019 amounted to 1.5%, compared to the same period in 2018. The State Statistics Service reports this information.

In comparions with the previous quarter, the real GDP grew by 0.1% (seasonally adjusted).

Earlier, the National Bank worsened the estimate of Ukraine's GDP growth in 2019 from 3.5% to 3.3% due to a decrease in growth rates in the fourth quarter. The Ministry of Economy also estimated the economic growth of Ukraine last year at 3.3%, and in the fourth quarter at 2.1%.

In late 2018, the GDP growth in Ukraine amounted to more than 3%.

As we reported before, In January, inflation rate in Ukraine amounted to 0.2%, compared to December 2019.

Food and non-alcohol prices increased by 0.5%. Price for egetables and fruit went up by 6.6%; dairy products, beef, cereal products, milk, cheeses, soft drinks, and bread by 1.4-0.3%; the price of eggs, sugar, pork, rice, fish and sunflower oil fell by 1.5-0.3%.

Prices of alcohol and tobacco increased by 0.8%. Those of clothing and footwear fell by 5.6%.
